This is my third year as Show Society President; and I will admit the job is quiet challenging but very rewarding.

With the economic downturn, and a new budget, and all the challenges that remain ahead, our show society team of dedicated volunteers, are positive about the continued success of our Gatton show for 2009, and for the future.

It is always a journey of abundant interest.

What stands out, is the loyalty and the enormous effort of a small team of volunteers that work tirelessly to make the Gatton Show a success.

It is inspiring to witness the level of pride that each member of our team gives without hesitation.

I must pay particular attention to our senior stewards, both ladies and gentlemen, that each year step up and deliver a quality and professional exhibit, year on year.

The main foundations for a great show, are based on good planning, a well organised and dedicated team, and the continues support of the local community.

You are all aware, that the present showground will relocate to our new site, in the near future, and this process is well underway.  A steering committee has been formed, to work with the consultants and the regional council, to ensure we have a complex that will be the (Showcase of the Lockyer) for the generations to come.

It is most important with the planning of the Gatton events centre site, that it will be suitable for various activities, capable of running a number of events at the same time, in harmonious, patron friendly surroundings.  The Gatton Show Society, looks forward to again working with Mayor Steve Jones, and his team at the Lockyer Valley Regional Council.

As in the past, the support given by the regional council is invaluable.

Our shire is well and truly, one of the fastest growing shires, and the current and planned projects are well underway.

I am very privileged to be part of our 2009 Gatton Show, and to reside in such a positive, and progressive community.

I must thank all our valued sponsors, both large and small, for their continued support, because without them, we could not have the spectacular showcase we present.

I must applaud Neil’s Parts, for their continued support as our Main Sponsor.

Again our focus is to provide the best value for money entertainment possible, that will satisfy and thrill, both young and old.

Our pavilions and awesome static displays, are sure to be of a high quality again, with lots of hard work and planning, ensuring a great result.

Going on the enquiries received, and the positive feedback to date, the ring events this year will be of a very high standard, and should be very pleasing.

Our horse events will again be of high quality, with interest from all over.

The numbers again, should be well up in all sections.

Finally, please come along and enjoy our Showcase, bring the family and be treated to a very exciting programme that will be sure to thrill.
